Zemmgrund - Schlegeis reservoir
From the mountaineering village of Ginzling to the Schlegeis reservoir
The beautiful mountaineering village of Ginzling is located at an elevation of 1000 m and is surrounded by several mountain peaks with elevations over 3000 meters. Along with many hiking and biking routes, there are also exciting attractions such as the Flying Fox, Giant Swing, rappelling stations, and via ferrata climbs. From here, the 16-kilometer-long Schlegeis Alpine Road will take you through the scenic valley of the Zamser Bach, which is a beautiful sight, to the Schlegeis reservoir. With a double curvature dam wall, it is one of the largest reservoirs in Austria. The ascent takes about 45 minutes from Mayrhofen and is possible by car, motorcycle, and bus. You can even explore the inside of the dam on a tour of the dam wall - from June to October between 10 am to 4 pm on the hour.
